Anti-inflammatory : I would recommend taking an anti-inflammatory by mouth over a steroid injection. Costochondritis is inflammation of the muscle between the ribs. Underneath that sits the lung. An injection given to deep can puncture the lung and cause breathing problems. I would recommend an anti-inflammatory medication by mouth to treat instead of an injection.
