Would not do so.: Alcohol is not contraindicated with a Z pak. However, consuming alcohol while taking prescription medications is not recommended. Alcohol can also suppress your immune system while you are trying to recover from an infection. Both substances are metabolized by your liver, and the concentration of your antibiotic may be affected if you have an underlying liver disease.

Not recommended: Both azithromycin and alcohol can harm the liver. Both can interfere with cardiac rhythm. Everybody has their own ideas of what is a "small" amount of alcohol. Z-paks are only a few days. Be safe - Be smart Avoid the alcohol.

Zithromax: Generally its best to not drink when taking medication. However, that said, its unlikely that an antibiotic like zithromax would interact with ingested alcohol. I would advice you to simply stay away from alcohol because a small drink will typically turn to a frequent drinker leading to issues beyond this discussion thread.
