Sonogram: At a BHCG level above 2000 a sonogram can be done to confirm the presence of a live intrauterine pregnancy. Serial BHCG levels are less important once a sonogram can be done. In general during early pregnancy a BHCG increases by 66 % every 48 hours. An abnormal rise could indicate a pregnancy failing to develop or a tubal pregnancy
