Yes and No: Fluoxetine has a relatively long half-life. Missing a dose will not harm you. However, it may not reduce your likelihood of avoiding diarrhea. Your best option is to discuss your symptom or side effect with your prescribing provider. You may need to switch to a different class of antidepressant because medications in the SSRI class are known to have GI side effects. Best wishes.

Try it: Fluoxetine has a half life of 3 days... you could take it every other day or every third day and see if it helps

Probably not: Fluoxetine phas a long half life and diarrhea can be a side effect you need to consider asking your physician to evaluate you and see if there’s another cause for the diarrhea and if not you may need a therapy change. Since it has a long half-life stopping it May not have much of an effect.

Diarrhea: Diarrhea occurs in 8-18%, but it typically lasts 1-2 weeks after starting the medication or changing the dose. Don’t skip on your own; you may delay the time it takes to get to where your dose is effective, which is usually 4-6 weeks. It’s worth letting your doctor know about these symptoms early. See Comment
