Endomet/ritis/riosis: The endometrium is the lining of the uterus. When these cells are inflamed or infected, the term "endometritis" is used. When they are found attached to abdominal organs or the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum), they are called "endometriosis". Periods may be "regular", but with endometriosis they are usually very painful, with occasional diarrhea. No relationship to abortion.
