IUD: fell out ?: Expulsion of IUD's is possible, but not without considerable discomfort, which is hard to ignore. The better possibility is that the string is coiled up and now within the uterus. To prove this, an ultrasound is necessary. This is not dangerous, and can be left in place once visualized on ultrasound.
