A member asked:

Morning, i have flu like symptoms and glands are swollen in my neck. i struggle to swallow or speak, is there something i can take to relieve that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or the "flu" (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to see about antibiotics). Trouble swallowing or speaking can be an emergency situation if severe.
