A member asked:

Baby born at 37 weeks 2 days bw 2.67kg.she was very red when born. still when i hold her in my arms feet gets red & when cries face red.is it normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually is: Babies usually have bore blood cells/weight at birth than adult because they are switching from womb cells to air breathing cells. Their system also cannot keep up with the rapid weight gain for months, so their cell count is higher at birth & becomes a bit anemic by 6mo. The flush appearance is often from this normal feature. A simple blood count confirms it.
