Will drinking alcohol have a negative effect on children?

Possibly: Certainly drinking during pregnancy can have negative consequences on an unborn child, such as fetal alcohol syndrome. An occasional cocktail or glass of wine/ beer around your children should not present a problem. Drinking excessively or getting drunk around the children does not set a good role model for them and could possibly be dangerous.
