Tourette's syndrome: If by TS you refer to Tourette's syndrome, the onset typically occurs before 7 years of age (average 3-9) and the disorder is usually recognized 2 to 3 years after onset. In most children, the severity peaks at 9 to 11 years of age. It is a neurological disorder characterized by repetitive, stereotyped, involuntary movements and vocalizations called tics.
