That happens: There's no rule against taking emergency contraceptive pills while using other contraceptives. Actually, that often happens because the primary contraceptive failed or is suspected of failing. The EC pill is the back-up method, and is taken. If the main contraceptive contains hormones, such as birth control pills, then the woman is taking extra hormones (in the EC pill) and may have spotting, etc.
