Good question: Gallstones may be present without pain, in fact this is the case more often than not. When gallstones do cause symptoms, it is usually the case that pain is present...often along with nausea and discomfort. There are exceptions to almost every rule, and so I would say yes it's possible to have symptoms without pain,..though it raises the question of how do you know they are the cause of nausea?
