A member asked:

I had a total thyroidectomy in june 2017, but my blood results came back yesterday with normal t3 and t4 but my tsh has again increased, from 7 to 29.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroidologist: Your elevated tsh is a sign of underactive thyroid and thyroid replacement therapy will be needed sooner or later. Since your t3 and t4 are in normal limits, your hypothyroidism is now subclinical. A thyroidologist or endocrinologist is best qualified to advise, treat and follow you and determine when to start treatment.
