Atenolol mortality neutral, but not beneficial, in clinical trials. Arrhythmias are a result of integrated split-second mind↔brain↔heart control (~100 cycles/second) & cardiac re-entry. Re-entry a result of cardiac ischemia due to atherosclerosis, typically starting in childhood.
