Water, noise: I wonder why you want to sleep lighter. It's not really healthy to not have deep sleep. But if you are worried about not waking up when your alarm goes off, then perhaps you just aren't sleeping well hence not hearing the alarm. Anyway, you can try drinking extra water before bed, which may cause you to wake up to use the restroom. You can also try various noises to wake you up periodically.
