Yes metformin can: In my experience have found people frequently get diarrhea while on metformin(Glucophage). By far is due not following diet well enough,to much carbohydrates will GREATLY increase chance and severity of the loose stool or diarrhea. Secondly,some people are insensitive to the metformin-really small percentage. Remember,no diabetic medication means you can eat whatever you desire!!!

Diarrhoea: More likely to be a bug. Check your sugars and urine ketones if you have kero sticks. Make sure u are well hydrated. See GP for review .

Metformin: Can cause diarrhoea. But also infection and other conditions (including diabetic autonomic neuropathy- usually vomiting rather than diarrhoea) so please see a doctor for assessment and review
