If not thrombosed: Or clotted, bed rest for 24-48 hours with feet above hips, warm tub soaks for 15 -20 minutes 3-4 times per day and sometimes ice pack for 5 minutes at a time will usually work. If thrombosed and hard to the touch might consider incision and drainage by colorectal surgeon in the office to shorten the time of discomfort and swelling and bleeding.
