Ovulation/spotting: It is not unusual, especially after age 30 to have brief spotting a day after ovulation. Estrogen is higher just before ovulation, then drops rapidly and ovulation occurs. This drop is enough to cause slight bleeding, allowing slight degeneration of the lining of the uterus.
