Why?: An otherwise NORMAL HEALTHY person is fine. That means whatever number of white blood cells he has is fine. What people think of as lab "normal ranges" are not about normals or abnormals. The lab ranges are usually "reference ranges" and not "normal ranges." A reference range includes 95% of people who are healthy, which means 2.5% of the healthy people are outside each end of the reference range.
