Doubt fibromyalgia: Many viral infections can cause widespread aching of muscles and joints. Other kinds of acute arthritis also are possible. Fibromyalgia is never diagnosed (and is very unlikely) unless otherwise unexplained pain lasts for several weeks or even months. It isn't known if viral infections might sometimes trigger fibromyalgia. For now, see a doctor ASAP for accurate diagnosis and treatment. Good luck!
