A member asked:

I got the flu shot in september because i was preg at the time. they gave me a tri shot not a quad. how protected will my baby be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Flu protection: baby: The immunity conferred by the trivalent or quadrivalent flu shot will be conferred on your infant by passage of antibodies via the placenta, and this "passive" immunity will last only a short time, b/c newborns do not develop their own immune system for some time after birth. The length of time will probably last through flu season, in any case.
