HPV vaccine: The HPV vaccine (Gardasil) is excellent at preventing HPV caused by any of 9 different HPV types. However, it has no effect at all on an HPV infection someone already has. The vaccine is not normally recommended beyond age 26, but is harmless and still effective in people at risk for future exposure.
