Herpes II: Genital herpes is very contagious, and if either partner has had other sexual contacts, the chance of both having herpes approaches 90% or more over time. Some can have herpes but never experience a painful, active infection. Condoms are not "100%" since transmission can occur prior to putting on a condom. Use birth control, but unfortunately, herpes is probably unavoidable.

No: Condoms only cover the penis and not herpes on the scrotum both of which will be in contact with the female genitalia. Herpes is transmitted when active lesions/vesicles (they look like raised tiny bubble wrap) are present. Some studies have shown that the virus is shed from the skin for up to 6 weeks after the lesions have healed. Knowledge is power in making this difficult decision.

AntiViralTherapyCond: Condoms will help but the protection is not 100%.One is only contagious during the herpes breakout. The breakouts can be prevented by Antiviral Therapy.Consult your Doctor or an infectious Disease Specialist
