You decide: Fever in any infant under 6-8 wks is worrisome because it may reflect germs acquired during delivery. Sometimes these incubate and emerge later & can mean a serious infection. We often admit them to the hospital and evaluate them for meningitis/blood poisoning. It is important to avoid exposures to simple germs that would force such a serious situation. Avoiding exposures is what we recommend.

Youre ok: Make sure everyone who touches baby washes first with soap and water or hand cleanser, especially school-aged kids, avoid others than you/dad kissing baby at all costs, fall is high season for viruses. Germx is fine if no water around, good idea. Infants are at increased risk of infections for up to 12 months, but I think at least one month of isolation at home is a good idea
