Costochondritis or : Inflammation of the rib cage is something that would cause this type of pain. If it’s related to your breathing it can be pleural pain or lung pain. Occasionally this sort of pain could also be related to inflammation around your heart but it is rare and you would be pretty sick. I would try over the counter ibuprofen or acetaminophen and see your doctor if this doesn’t help.
