You need to be: examined to figure this out. You may need x-rays as well. Most likely physical therapy will be sufficient to treat this but make the diagnosis first. Make an appointment with a health care provider for this as soon as possible.

Get seen: Need to make the right diagnosis here to answer the question. If it’s patellofemoral problem then physio will help and if it’s recurrent dislocation then specialist opinion may be needed. Also could be cartilage or ligament problems. I’d see the GP for an examination they’d make a diagnosis or be able to order tests / refer if needed to sort it out

Muscle weakness?: It's almost impossible to make a correct diagnosis via this forum. For some things it's important to see a clinician. Either a Dr or a physiotherapist will be able to help you. A common problem in women of your age is weakness of part of the thigh muscle (vastus medalis) which leads to a feeling like the knee cap will dislocate. There are many other possibilities though and assessment will help
