A member asked:

During my stress test my bp went up to 195/110, before the test i was anxious, it was 160/100. after 153/90. almost calm, 138/83. why does my diastolic go up when anxious or working out? sedentary since panic attack while exercising 6+ months ago.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Se below: When you feel anxious, your sympathetic nervous system goes into overdrive. It goes into flight or fight response mode. Neurotransmitters and hormones such as norepinephrine and epinephrine are released from your nerve endings and adrenal glands. They increase your heart rate and blood pressure.
