Yes, but...: Weight training (serious weights, not 5 lb dumbell curls) will increase your muscle mass and improve your metabolism while not working out. But lifting is only part of the equation. If you do not see the changes you are after with weight training alone, then take an hones assessment of your diet and make the necessary changes.
