Can urodynamic testing detect detrusor hyperflexia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Urodynamic testing is the most accurate way to detect detrusor hyperreflexia. The study can detect the uninhibited, high pressure bladder contractions characteristic of hyperreflexia, as well as the failure of the sphincter muscle to relax during voiding (detrusor sphincter dyssynergia) commonly seen in association with hyperreflexia. This high pressure system puts the kidneys at risk for damage.
