Severe Headache : Meningitis is inflammation of the lining around the brain and it typically causes severe headaches with neck stiffness. When it's from bacterial or viral causes, there is accompanying fever. If it's sterile or chemical, fever is unlikely or very low grade. A chiari decompression usually does not cause this reaction unless a "duraplasty" is performed and potentially allergenic for the patient.
