A member asked:

Why are my hands and fingers (both hands) swell when i am walking, typing, holding a book while reading?extremely bad when lying on back, holding a book?

Vasomotor: This puzzling symptom complex may be due to a vasomotor reaction causing dilation of certain blood vessels and development of congestion and edema in the tissues of your hands. I have seen this in some patients whose hands swell after walking, Lack of redness and itch makes a pure allergic reaction unlikely. Perhaps a vascular disease specialist or allergist can advise you better.
