Various: Avoid coffee, excess alcohol, excess fats (fried) overeating, anxiety, & fear. Make meal times unhurried and relaxing. My own theory is that more than minimal liquids dilute intestinal enzymes, which depend upon concentrated milieu for effective chemical food digestion. A small amount of alcohol at inception of meal is reputed to stimulate gastric juices; i cannot recount medical evidence however.
