Get tested: There are several causes of bad smelling vaginal discharge and testing is needed to determine the cause and treatment. The most likely is bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria. It causes a watery discharge with a fishy odor. It is not sexually transmitted and your partner does not require treatment. It is treated with antibiotics.

BV? Trich? STD?: The main cause of strong vaginal odor, sometimes with discharge, isbacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of bacteria. Trichomonas causes the same odor, and other STDs also are more common with BV. The treatment is different for each and Dettol won't work for any. Douching (with Dettol or anything else) can make it worse. Your topic tags show STDs are on your mind, so get tested. Good luck.
