Self medicating...: As your hormone levels fluctuate around your period, your brain chemistry also changes. Your serotonin levels drop. Also the uterus produces inflammatory hormones that make you tired, sore, achy and bloated. You body craves "soul" foods that raise your serotonin levels and make you feel better.
