Yes: Barium swallow or esophagram should detect medium or large size ulcers, narrowing/stricture. Upper endoscopy is however more sensitive.
Dr. Dean Giannone
Internal Medicine 25 years experience
It could. : A barium swallow would likely detect these things. Endoscopy would be more accurate with the added benefit of being able to biopsy what may be found. Often if symptoms are suggestive and barium swallow is negative we’d do the endoscopy anyway.

A type of wound: A wound caused by unrelieved pressure on an area of the body. Contact with any surface (bed, chair, medical devices such as splints or wheelchair footrests) can cause a bedsore. Pressure from the surface restricts blood flow and causes local tissue to die. The skin opens up & a wound is visible as the body gets rid of the dead tissue.

Corneal infection: The cornea is the clear window in the front of your eye. Your tears and the surface cells of the cornea, or epithelium, normally protect the cornea from infection. When these protective layers are compromised, bacteria can enter the stroma, or core layer of the cornea, and cause vision-threatening infection. Commonest cause: misuse of soft contact lenses (poor care hygiene, overwear).
