Stye and Pain: If your stye is painful you have two options. One is to see your family physician and the other is to see an opthalmologist. Some styes need to be cut out. While you are waiting to be seen i would recommend a warm wet compress gently pressed against the tender eye three or four times per day.

See ophthalmologist: Often draining a painful stye can provide much reduction in pain as well as quicker healing. See an ophthalmologist for evaluation of your stye.
