A member asked:

How long can warts (hand) survive on an inanimate object and can it cross contaminate for inanimate object to another inanimate object?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Time varies: warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. Viruses can live on objects for days if there is no effort to use antiviral/bacterial cleaning products on these objects. To contract a virus it depends on the type of virus and how that particular one is transmitted. HPV typically is transmitted via mucosal surfaces, so touching an object that had HPV virus on it, does not guarantee transmission.
