Look: Supplementing with iron is dangerous only if you are already overloaded. You're deficient and presumably the cause is iron deficiency and the reason for your iron deficiency has already been identified. (Likely causes at your age include ill-advised vegetarianism and chronic blood loss from stomach ulcer, colon cancer or some other source). Get a second opinion if you have any concerns.

Taking EXCESSIVE: iron could POTENTIALLY lead to heart failure. If you are taking it under the direction of a physician you do not need to be concerned.
