A member asked:

Just noticed "probable enlarged right atrium" on an ekg i had, however my dr. never mentioned it to me. what sort of follow up do i need?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Questionable entity: An EKG is not a reliable test for Atrial size. it is not uncommon for the EKG report to say 'enlarged right atrium'....but mark the word, " which to me as a physician means that the reader of this report is guessing,/unsure. So in an otherwise well person with a normally functional heart, one can ignore this reading as long as you are not in obvious heart failure with swollen legs .
