Yes, get checked out: The normal bladder empties completely with urination. Urine can be retained in the bladder for two main reasons. Obstruction in the pathway from the bladder to the outside, usually caused by prostate gland enlargement or scar tissue (structure) in the urethra. Damage of the nerves to the bladder, or the bladder muscle fibers, decrease the bladder's ability to expel urine. You are retaining a lot.
