Early years: During your early menstrual years, it is common to have irregular cycles. If you are sexually active check a pregnancy test. Otherwise you might need to have your mother take you to your pediatrician for a check up.

Ovulation issue: Alot of young women don't ovulate regularly and will have irregular periods or skipped periods or even more frequent bleeding. However, if you are having sex you need to consider pregnancy as a possibility. You may need birth control pills to control your periods as well.
