Bloody show.: When the mucus plug dislodges from the cervix - some blood vessels can bleed. This is a bloody show. Brown discharge is usually older blood. There usually is not more than an oz of blood. Significant amounts of bright red blood may be of more concern. Usually loss of mucus plug and bloody show are signs that labor is pending.
