Usually silent: Declining kidney function usually dose not cause symptoms until fairly severe. When severe usually causes weakness/fatigue due to associated anemia. Some causes result in visible blood in the urine - always requires prompt evaluation. High blood pressure also often associated with diminished kidney function.

Kidney disease: Kidney disease is often silent and symptoms are not evident until the disease is quite advanced. Common symptoms of uremia are appetite loss, weakness, weight loss and nausea with dehydration, sallow skin color, foul breath and rapid breathing from acidosis.
