A member asked:

Is lp reflux usually controlled with diet and/or meds or do individuals who have it usually have to have surgery? is it rare to need surgery with lpr?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

LPR: Laryngopharyngeal reflux in my experience is not treated surgically and unfortunately may not respond to PPI medications like prilosec or nexium which are effective for GERD. Nevertheless they are worth trying. Consultations with a gastroenterologist and an Otolaryngologist may be helpful for more advice.
