Neuropathy or ?: People with diabetes are more prone to develop atherosclerosis and peripheral artery disease, which causes leg pain with walking and leads to infection and gangrene in the toes or feet. Even more common is the development of peripheral neuropathy, with numbness, tingling and pain in the feet and legs. Both of these problems are prevented with ongoing, sustained good control of blood sugar levels.
