Dr gave me 800 mg ibuprofen to take every 5-6 hrs for a week from my tooth surgery. i read that is not ok. i'm i safe been doing it for 5 days now.

Depends on...: Such issues depend on the particular doctor, the patient, and the condition being treated. Some people take a tapering dose trying to avoid stomach upset; or they may add a second medication to relieve pain, instead of just ibuprofen, also trying to avoid stomach ache. For example, a patient might take 800mg every 6 hours the first day, then 600mg per dose for 3 days, then 400mg per dose, etc...

Contact the practitioner that did your "tooth surgery." pain killers need to be taken only as long as there is pain. By 5 days post-surgery you should be pretty much pain free, and should be able to wean off the pain killers. If not, you may require additional treatment. Younshould always check in with prescribing Dr before discontinuing any medication.
