Constipation: Symptoms suggest constipation. Increase water intake to a minimum of 8-10 large glasses of water a day. Eat foods rich in fiber such as fruits and vegetables (especially pears, prunes, salads). Try a stool softener regularly like miralax. One capful in a full glass of water twice a day until you have regular bowel movements
