A member asked:

Is there any reliable blood test for diagnosing tuberculosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Latent and active TB: There is an important distinction between TB that is active (very bad, causes lung problems mostly and alot of suffering), and TB that is latent... This latent form of TB means that 'nothing is happening' and the body is controlling the germ. Things can get out of hand though, so a blood test can be sent to confirm this situation (Quantiferon GOLD), or the 'ppd' skin test can be done. ID docs help
