My grandfather vomits blood. is this normal if he has tuberculosis?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

No: Hemoptysis or coughing up blood is never normal. It suggests that his tuberculosis may have spread. He needs to be seen as soon as possible by his family doc and infectious disease specialist. In the meantime, he needs to wear a mask and stay away from others (sound familiar? eg Ebola). Check out http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tuberculosis/basics/prevention/con-20021761.
