Anorectal abscess: A supralevator abscess is a rare type of anorectal abscess, one that can have an origin in the abdominal/pelvic cavity. Crohns or diverticulitis can both cause it (leaking material from bowel leads to the infection). True abscess requires surgical drainage for cure, though an early infection might be treated with antibiotics alone.
